Cynthia Barnhart is a Senior Consultant for the company. She is a Professor in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department and the Engineering Systems Division at MIT, Cambridge, and has served as a Co-Director of the Operations Research Center and as a Co-Director of the Center for Transportation and Logistics at MIT. After receiving her Ph.D. from the Center for Transportation and Logistics at MIT, she taught at Georgia-Tech for several years before returning to MIT. Professor Barnhart specializes in developing models, optimization methods, and decision support systems for large-scale transportation problems. She is a world-renowned researcher in multi-commodity flows and integer programming. She has done extensive research on airline fleet assignment, airline crew scheduling, railroad blocking, and service design for package delivery companies. Professor Barnhart’s research has been put into production at United Airlines and UPS. Her exceptional problem-solving ability and her industry experience are adding tremendous value to our forthcoming software products for railroads and airline companies.
