Ravindra K. Ahuja, the founding President & CEO of Innovative Scheduling, is a world-renowned researcher and academician. He has served as a Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, Sloan School of Management at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Business School at Rutgers University. He is currently a Professor in the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department at the University of Florida, Gainesville. During his academic career, he developed innovative models and algorithms for several airline scheduling, railroad scheduling, and logistics problems that were previously considered intractable. These models have now been packaged into web-based decision support systems.
Professor Ahuja has contributed both to the theory and applications of optimization and his contributions have received highly competitive awards. He is a recipient of (i) Lanchester Prize in 1993 given to the best publication of the year in Operations Research; (ii) Pierskella Award in 2003 given to the best applications of Operations Research and Management Science in Health Applications; (iii) Wagner Prize in 2006 for Excellence in Operations Research Practice; and (iv) Koopman Prize in 2007 given to the best contribution to Military Operations Research. He became an INFORMS Fellow in 2008.
Ravi is a co-author of three textbooks: (i) “Network Flows: Theory, Algorithms, and Applications,” which is a leading text and reference book in the field of network optimization and is used world-wide by researchers and practitioners; (ii) “Developing Spreadsheet-Based Decision Support Systems;” and (iii) “Developing Web-Enabled Decision Support Systems.” Ravi publishes widely and is a co-author of more than 90 research papers and book chapters in the areas of Operations Research and Computer Science.
He is also an Associate Editor of three prestigious journals: Operations Research, Transportation Science, and Networks.
